My name is Iemke. I am a graduated nutritionist and coach. As a health coach I focus on a science based healthy diet. I like to call myself a foodnerd, because I’m really interested in the food trends and science behind food. But above that I’m a woman, wife, mom of two amazing boys, a Dutchie living in South Africa, blogger and idealist.
When I was 10 years old I decided to become vegetarian and have been ever since. Back in the 1990s in the Netherlands it was not a common way of eating. Back then my main consideration was that I didn’t want to eat dead animals.
When I got older my considerations for my way of eating changed. I learned more about food and which food is important for our body. I realised a mainly plant-based diet is the healthiest way to live. Not only for your body, but also for you mind and conscience. Agriculture is taking a big toll on our planet and the amount of meat people eating today is not ethical, when the emmisions of greenhouse gases are dangerously high and a great part of the world population is starving.
My study and voyage of discovery through the world of food let me to eat mainly plant-based. Not only for my physical and mental health. But mainly as a mom, I owe it to our childeren to contribute to a sustainable world which our they can inherit from us. For their future, health and world.
Through my nutritionist/coach study I learned that food is your power and that you are what you eat. It is a fact that the vast majority of diseases can be prevented with simple changes in what you eat and how you live.
